Arsenal Football Club: Transfer News Round up
Arsenal started negotiations with 6 ft 5 in English defensive rock
The London club are reportedly one of several Premier League clubs interested in Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings this summer, but they may be unable to afford him. Arsenal’s defensive woes continued with back-to-back losses to Man City and Brighton last week.
Spanish boss also lost Pablo Mari to a severe ankle injury which could rule him out until November, while the future of David Luiz looks increasingly uncertain with his one-year deal ready to expire on June 30. Tyrone is a player that the Gunners ‘like’, but there are doubts over whether they could afford the fee Villans are looking for.
Villa signed Mings on a permanent deal for a fee of £20m last summer, but less than a year later, Tyrone is already on the radar of a couple of big PL clubs. Arsenal boss is also said to be on the lookout for a forward, with Chelsea’s Willian an ‘attractive’ option as he is ready to become a free agent in the next transfer window.
The London giants also have to contend with the urgent deal situations of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Bukayo Saka. All three footballers deals at Arsenal are due to expire in 2021, and if extensions are not agreed, they will walk away for free.
Top scorer Aubameyang has recently been the subject of interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Gunners chiefs reportedly want to offload Mesut Ozil this summer. Arsenal signed Pablo Mari from Flamengo and Cedric Soares from Southampton during the winter transfer window.

MATTEO GUENDOUZI is being chased by Real Madrid and Barcelona with Arsenal ready to sell, according to reports.
The French midfielder tested Mikel Arteta's patience by bragging about his wages after a clash with Brighton's Neil Maupay.
Seagulls ace Maupay injured Bernd Leno during the fiery contest and Guendouzi, 21, was lucky to dodge a ban after grabbing his rival by the throat.
He then mocked Brighton's players over their earnings despite Maupay, who later scored the winner, earning £10,000 MORE than the £40,000-a-week Arsenal ace.
And French outlet Le 10 Sport claim frustrated Arteta is happy to let Guendouzi leave the club this summer.
Their report adds that La Liga giants Real and Barca are both willing to offer the playmaker an escape route.
Arsenal feared Leno would be out for a year after injuring knee ligaments in the collision with maupay.
But the Gunners were handed a a huge boost with the news that their German stopper will only miss FOUR WEEKS of action.
Ahead of tomorrow's clash with Southampton, Arsenal revealed: "Positive news after detailed assessments.
"[He is] aiming to return to full training in four to six weeks."
Leno even tweeted his own update, writing: "Thank you for your support and getting well wishes.
"I’m going to work hard to come back on the pitch as soon as possible."

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has said that he is positive Bukayo Saka will sign a new deal with the club very shortly.
Speaking ahead of the Southampton game, Arteta said:
“I am very positive that everything is going to be done with Bukayo very shortly. The communications between the club, agents & the family has been going on for months & is very fluent.”
“The player & family knows how much trust I have in him. I think he is just showing that every week & his consistency level is getting better & better.”
“I’m so excited with the young players that we have. They just need the right environment around them to explode and Bukayo is doing that even in difficult circumstances which is even more merit for him.”
Bukayo Saka has one year remaining on his contract with the Gunners and Arsenal are keen for him to sign a new deal and extend his stay at the club. The 18 year old is an Arsenal academy graduate and has had a breakthrough season this year. He has scored three goals and provided ten assists in 31 appearances across all competitions in the current campaign. He has provided more assists than any other Arsenal player this season.
Saka made his debut for the Arsenal first team in November 2018 against Vorskla Poltava in the Europa league.
In Arteta’s first three months at the club, the 18 year old was played at left back due to Kieran Tierney being out injured. He impressed as a left back and consistently improved in the role.
Tierney is now back in the team and one would expect Saka to return to being an option out wide for the Gunners. He did start on the right wing against Manchester City in Arsenal’s first game back but played in left central midfield in the club’s next game against Brighton and was hugely impressive. Saka’s versatility is one of his strongest assets and that’s saying a lot because he has so much to his game.
The update from Arteta that he is close to signing an extension at Arsenal will come as a relief to Gooners everywhere.
