As stated by Mustapha Jika, the Commissioner Ministry of Transportation while speaking with newsmen in Yola on Wednesday, the reintroduction of taxi transport services is part of the reform aimed at saving lives and properties of commuters.
Honourable Jika categorically said that the cap drivers can be established and traced by the ministry easily, which will be contrary to tricycle riders who are mostly not indigenes of Adamawa state. The absence of other alternatives to tricycle or Keke-NAPEP in thr state is the reason why people resort to using them, and that calls for "the need for intra state cabs."
He expressed his concern on people boarding tricycle around 9pm, by saying it has all the possibility to expose people to insecurity. The commissioner loudly debunked fare list being circulated on social media reiterating that the Adamawa State Transport Company Limited is compliant to interstate lockdown order, with no intention of violation.
The state will soon provide another means of transportation like boats to curtail the overdependence on road transportation between Nigeria and Cameroon through River Benue in order to ease difficulties drivers and passengers encounter while transporting goods and services between the two countries.
