Delta State Police have confirmed the arrest of a sixty year-old pastor of Christ Holy Church, Asaba, Mr Fidelis Nwansa.
The spokesman of the armed forces, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident in an interview with reporters in Asaba.
A police spokesman said that after his arrest, the pastor claimed he was working with a militant group in Anambra.
According to Onovwakpoyeya, the army has already launched an investigation into the incident to find out exactly why he owned the gun.
"Our officers have arrested a pastor with six rifles. Police also arrested a leader of the Freeman faction.
"Six guns were found in the ruins of the church in Asaba.
"After his arrest, the pastor claimed he was working with a militant group in Anambra and was using a gun to protect his church.
"But we are currently conducting a copy of the transcript to verify the person's claims," DSP Onovwakpoyeya said.
The federal police in Abuja have arrested the kidnapped Bello Saleh of Dobi village in Gwagwala Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement, DSP spokesman Anjuguri Manzah said the suspect was arrested at his hideout in Paiko Kore village of Gwagwalada Local Government Area.
DSP Manzah said the suspect and his team shot dead Ejike Idoko, a resident of Dobi village, as he tried to prevent them from traveling with his pregnant wife.
He said efforts were being made to seize other members of Saleh's squad and retrieve their guns.
