Why Should Dying People Still Dwell In Comfortable houses?

Only by God's mercy can we explain why poor people are still alive in the same environment where rich people are dying. These dying people live in more comfortable apartments, eat the best of foods, have the best of medical attention, and have all the wherewithal to travel anywhere for comfort. Of course, God probably loves them too. Yet they die, quite unexpectedly!

"If it had not been the Lord..."

The poor, by contrast, belong in the crowd, always with people they just can't help, not by will but by an condition they just can't help. Whether in the market, church or commuter bus, they are at risk. You are probably in that category, in which case you don't know whom you often sit with, or what they carry in them.

On the street, you don't know who just passed you or who is coming ahead, where they are coming from, where they are going, or what's hiding there. In these days of rampant murders, kidnapping and rape, only God hasn't let them make you or a family member a victim. God lets it happen before you come, or just after you leave.

The food you eat - or where you ate last or often go to eat - you don't know the hands that supply it, from where and, sometimes, who prepares it, with what, etc! In these days that all manner of concoctions are supplied for oil, drinks, supplements, etc., only God can tell what quantity of poisons you have consumed in the last one month, and you are still strong and kicking.

Not to talk of the Coronavirus pandemic. Remember, the threat was that given our lack of proper awareness of the intrigues, medical facilities or adequate medical personnel, we'd soon be dying on the streets. That's beside the fact that a large number of our own "brothers" and "sisters" would readily trade the lives of whole communities for money. But you are still here. In fact, you probably have even attended the burial of some of those who seemed better, richer, healthier and more connected.

Surely, "The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all" (Ecclesiastes 9:11).

So you owe God a huge appreciation, first by making Jesus your Lord and Saviour, then by proving that commitment through intentional love and obedience to his will. It is the least way you can be grateful for your life, while you expect the bigger miracles to come.

Why not check that out, now!
