The Independent Election Commission (INEC) has scheduled the exercise for October 10, 2020.
Last week the APC to INEC announced that it would set July 20, 2020 for its primary election. The ruling party asked the Commission to monitor it.
But a letter with ref. № APC / NHDQ / INEC / 19/020/013 was only signed by Acting National Secretary Waziri Bulama. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
INEC has now warned the APC that the letter violates Article 4.4 of the Commission's regulations and guidelines regarding the party's primary behavior.
This section requires that this notice be jointly signed by the party's national chair man and national secretary.
Because of this, Inec rejected Bulama's letter and advised the party to do what was necessary.
The INEC memorandum for the APC was signed by Commission Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
This Development can affect APC. Under Section 85 (1) of the Election Law, the parties are requested to notify INEC about the election of the governor within 21 days of the preliminary election.
The INEC schedule released on 6 February 2020 shows that the party primaries for Ondo elections will begin on 2 July and ended on 25 July 2020.
The registration deadline is July 28, 2020.
