The Deputy Governor's reaction was contained in a statement issued on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Babatope Okeowo, monitored by Naija News, on Wednesday.

The Chief Press Secretary lamented that it was the same Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, that held the Deputy Governor hostage for more than four hours inside the Government House, in Akure, on June 21, this year, despite his status that grants him immunity against such act, as stipulated under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, "We are not oblivious of their surreptitious move to undermine the security of the Deputy Governor and strip him of his security apparatus to make him venerable in order to carry out their evil agenda."
