Shed Not a Tear for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

But unfortunately, his decision to hobnob with the North and throw all his eggs into the baskets of northern political leaders was, to put it mildly, a very naïve one, because take it or leave it, the North plays the game better.

While he was at it, very ordinary Nigerians on the streets could easily predict the outcome of his naïve political move—his ultimate betrayal when it mattered most. See the article, 4 Factors that Will Work against Bola Tinubu Becoming President in 2023. Nigerians, with every means at their disposal, warned him way ahead of time, but he would not listen because of his all-consuming desire to be President of Nigeria.  View pictures in App save up to 80% data. If Bola Ahmed Tinubu felt those Nigerians were too inconsequential for him to take their counsels to heart, he should have, at least, learned from history—especially the fate that befell M. K. O. Abiola in very recent history.

By the events that happened earlier today at the Victor Giadom-convened APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the long-expected outcome has just come to pass.

Just a reminder that the APC NEC earlier today dissolved the party's National Working Committee (NWC) and appointed Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC. By this singular political masterstroke, the NEC (or more significantly, the big masquerades behind the NEC), effectively put paid to Bola Ahmed Tinubu's ambition to be Nigeria's President in 2023 as it also sealed Adams Oshiomhole's hope of a return to his former position as the National Chairman of the party.

It is now safe to say that Bola Ahmed Tinubu's presidential ambition has gone up with the winds. But Nigerians should not shed a tear for him. Instead, they should find relief in the fact that an imperious godfather's wings have just been clipped. For Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he should take consolation in the fact that he has amassed enough wealth to last his seven generations if not more, after him.
