ATB Ottun was one of the pioneer members of the Nigerian national team named the UK Tourists. After playing a few, unofficial, warm-up games in Nigeria, they went to the UK.

The team boarded the RMSS Apapa on 16 August 1949 for a playing tour of England and arrived Liverpool 13 days later. The team had no shoes.

After returning from the United Kingdom, ATB Ottun reportedly sank into depression in 1952. After being declared missing, his body was later found floating in a lagoon.

2. Justin Fashanu

Justin Fashanu was the son of a Nigerian barrister living in the UK. He Was an English footballer who played for a variety of clubs between 1978 and 1997. Justin was also the first black footballer to command a £1million transfer fee, with his transfer from Norwich City to Nottingham Forest in 1981, but had little success as a player afterwards, although he continued to play at senior level until 1994.

After moving to the United States, in 1998 he was questioned by police when a seventeen-year-old boy accused him of assault. He was charged and an arrest warrant for him was issued in Howard County, Maryland on 3 April 1998, but he had already left his flat. According to his suicide note , fearing he would not get a fair trial, he fled to England where he killed himself in London in May 1998. Justin was inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.

3. Uche Okafor

Uche Okafor was a Nigerian football defender who played 34 international matches for Nigeria. He played every match when Nigeria won the 1994 African Cup of Nations , but sustained an ankle injury shortly thereafter. He was part of the squad to the 1994 World Cup.

Okafor's club career took him to many countries before he settled in the USA. He was drafted to Kansas City Wizards in the 9th round of the 1996 MLS Inaugural Player Draft and played there for five seasons before retiring after the 2000 season.

Okafor's body was discovered by his wife shortly after he returned home from dropping off his daughter in school in their house. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office reported that he hanged himself in an upstairs hallway.

The true cause of Okafor's death still remains a misery after his family rejected the suicide ruling of the Police Department, suspecting foul play.
