The Federal high court in Abuja on Monday dismissed a suit filed against the Executive Governor of Edo State His Excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Three individuals namely Mr Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu suit the Edo State Governor, accusing him of certificate forging.
The Plaintiffs accused Obaseki of forging his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) certificate in classical studies from the University of Ibadan.
According to the Plaintiffs, the
offence contravenes section 182(1)(i) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), which therefore makes Obaseki “not qualified to run or seek the office of the governor of Edo State” in the forthcoming 2020 governorship election.
Mr Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu in there suit are praying the Court to disqualify or stop Godwin Obaseki from contesting the Governorship election comes September.
However, as the Case was brought up in court today, the plaintiffs and their lawyers were not court, also the defendant Obaseki too was not represented.
With the recent development in Court, the judge of the Federal High Court Abuja, Justice Anwuli Chiekere proceeded to strike out the suit.
