Manchester United had a game to remember on Saturday night against stubborn Norwich city at Carrow Road. The Red Devils, who were in remarkable form would have been confident of snatching a win and strolling pass Premier League relegation battler, Norwich city, in the FA Cup quarter final.

However, the game later gave the Red Devils a scare as Norwich city put up a Scintillating performance of their own by given a good account of themselves.

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 8 changes to the starting line-up that whipped Sheffield United 3-0 in the Premier League on Wednesday, by installing some of his Fringe players into the starting XI, against the Hornet.

Odion Ighalo replaced Anthony Martial in the starting line up, while players like Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Mc Tominay, Fred, Eric Bailly, Dalot and Romero were other fringe players selected in the starting XI.

However, Nigerian International, Odion Jude Ighalo was the only fringe player that had a relatively decent game as other fringe players looked rusty and were lackluster in a drab encounter, which made them struggled to impose themselves in the game.

United started brightly from the start but as the game grew older, they lost steam and their rustiness began to show. The Red Devils struggled to break down Norwich City's defence as they lacked spark in the final third, they were also very slow and too passive in their build up play as they struggled to create any meaningful chance in the first 45 minutes, which resulted in them having zero shot on taget.

In the second half, Odion Ighalo got the opener for the Red Devils in the 51st minutes after a flick from Juan mata fell to him and he slotted it from six yards, beyond Norwich City's Goalkeeper, Tim Krul.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made three substitute to change the dynamic of the game, by bringing in Williams, Greenwood and Marcos Rashford, taken out Dalot, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard. But United still fail to break down Norwich City at the back.

In the 75th minutes, Norwich city responded through Todd Cantwell's long range shot to bring the game back to level.

And as the game wear out, Manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to make two more changes, by bringing in Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, taken out Scott MC Tominay and Fred. However, United still failed to break down the resolute and dugged Norwich city defense.

The Red Devils would have gotten a late winner if not for Norwich City's defender, Klose, who pulled Odion Ighalo at the edge of the 18 yard box after an exquisite pass from Bruno Fernandes. Klose eventually got a Red Card and was sent off for the foul commited.

United desperately searched for a winner in six added minutes but needed the extra 30 available to get their win, with Captain, Harry Maguire getting a late strike in the 118th minutes.

Among the fringe players that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paraded, Odion Ighalo was the only player who showed promise. He was decent, showed signs of quality and freshness.

Since his arrival from China in January, The Nigerian International has been the reliable United back-up who has consistently delivered.

Although he had little or no service from United's Midfield in the game against Norwich city, but his hold up play was fanstastic as he also had to come in field to get the ball, due to lack of supply from the creative players.

The Nigerian International, never put a foot wrong and was finally rewarded with a fantastic finish in the 51st minutes, making it his 5th goal since joining Manchester United in January.

As it stands, the Nigerian has now scored in every matches he has started for the Red Devils with 5 goals from 4 starts and has shown the constitency that is required from other Manchester United Fringe players.

Ighalo may not be starting every game for Manchester United but he has demonstrated, he can be reliable and be trusted when called upon and I think other Manchester United Fringe players should learn from him.
