Why Residents Of These Local Government Areas Should Prepare For Another Lockdown

The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control has earlier reported that about 20 local government areas are contributing to over 60% of the covid-19 cases in the country. However, according to punch newspaper, The chairman of the Presidential Task Force, Boss Mustapha, has given an indication during at interview at Abuja that there are possibilities that the federal government may lockdown about 18 local governments with high covid19 cases. According to the report, the second phase of the eased lockdown has ended and the federal government is preparing to announce the next phase of the eased lockdown. As nigerians await details of the next phase of the eased lockdown, residents of the affected local government may be given stricter guidelines.

According to the report, the 20 local government reported by the NCDC with high covid19 cases includes the following;

1 – Lagos – Lagos Mainland LG

2 – Abuja – Abuja Municipal

3 – Lagos – Mushin

4 – Lagos – Eti - Osa

5 – Kano – Tarauni

6 – katsina – Katsina

7 – Lagos – Alimosho

8 – Borno – Maiduguri

9 – Lagos – Kosofe

10 – Jigawa – Dutse

11 – Lagos – Ikeja

12 – Kano – Nassarawa

13 – Lagos – Oshodi / Isolo

14 – Lagos – Apapa

15 – Lagos – Amuwo Odofin

16 – Edo – Oredo

17 – Bauchi – Bauchi

18 – Lagos – Lagos Island

19 – Lagos – Surulere

20 – Ogun – Ado Odo/ Ota

Moreover, eleven out of these local government are in Lagos state. Will it be possible to lock a part of lagos when other places are open? That is the big question for concern because many of these local government in Lagos are busy areas. To achieve a lockdown in that area will require much enforcement by the state government.

With this new announcement from the NCDC it is advisable that residents of these mentioned local government areas should maintain social distancing and take their safety with up most priority. Avoiding crowd and washing hands constantly is very crucial at this time. While alot of Nigerians hope to continue their daily activity without restrictions, it should be noted that our collective efforts is paramount.
