On the 21st day of June (sunday) 2020 this was what happened to a young man named JUSTUS TAMUNOALA JIM HALLIDAY.

The young man who was filled with so much pain and disappointment narrated his story using the BONNY YOUTH FEDERATION platform to share to people how he was maltreated by some army officials.

A lot of people have raised all sorts of abuses on him while some have given their honest opinion on the matter.

This is what really happened.

I am Justus Tamunoala Jim-Halliday, a true son of Bonny Kingdom.

On that faithful day, I chatted a friend up to ask if she has a spare charger I can use to power up my phone.

Getting a positive reply from her, I decided to go to her house which is just few blocks away from my house.

This is the screnshoted chat between I and my friend.

I came out from my house and saw some army men sitted at a spot. I walked down to them and told them that I wanted to pick up charger from a friend few blocks away (and this was my crime)

The army men laughed and replied, “it wasn't hospital emergency or food, but common charger ”

The next thing, without telling me to go back home, one of them told me to hold onto a pillar for strokes of whips(this to me was a joke because I didn't see a reason for that)

The next thing was a whip sound close to my ear and before I turned, the army man was raising his hand for another one, so I held his hands and asked “ why should he flogged me and what was my offense ”.

While talking, three more approached me to whip and was trying to overpower me to give me more whips, and one of them hit me with the head of his gun.

I exclaimed “hummm....ok. The army man in charge tried to slap me for exclaiming. Then one of them cracked a gun and told me he would shoot me.

At the scene, I saw some Bonny local government personnel and covid-19 team at Akiama where everything happened, but non of them did anything to save me.

After some time, the army man in charge told them to leave me and asked me to follow him. He then told me to lie flat on a moldy and dirty water (which is the normal punishment for civilians which also stands as abuse of power)

Minutes later, I was handcuffed like a common criminal and told to remain inside the dirty water.

I stayed in the water for good 3hours and was told to drink from the water and lick from the moldy soil.

3hours later, I was asked to stand up, and series of questions was asked me.

“them say make we waste am self, him be trouble maker for the Kingdom ”

“which cult do you belong to and who is your leader ”

I then replied “I am not a cultist ”

They checked for tattoos on my body and found none (thank God say I no follow wear tattoo during my early days, if not maybe I would be dead by now)

After the series of questions, I was asked to get up and go.

My people, I only want to know if I did wrong by approaching them First, or was it the fact that I wanted to collect charger from a friend or was it the fact that I asked a simple question “ why I should be flogged ” ?

I also want to know why they threatened to kill me, is it because of the charger or because I always speak the truth for the betterment of my beloved kingdom, which my father till his death fought for?

Or is it the fact that there is Covid -19 in Bonny Island.

What exactly is my offense.

This happened live in Bonny Island Rivers state.

The question is:

Who was at fault ? The army men or the boy.

Below are people's comments and opinions shared on the platform of the Bonny youth federation.
