It's no more news that the ex-Governor of Oyo state, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi is dead. The controversial Ibadan politician died as a result of undisclosed health complications and Covid-19. However, in a video that went viral on social media we saw the former firstlady and Oyo State's deputy Governor, Engr Rauf Olaniyan exchanging words. Mrs Ajimobi complained that the current government of Oyo state abandoned his husband went he was fight for his life with Covid-19.
Consequently, some Nigerians have taken to their social media handles to castigate Governor Seyi Makinde for not calling to sympathy with the family of his predecessor, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi who died due to medical complications and COVID-19.
At this point, this most important thing to do is to clarify issues without taking sides. Personally, I think my opinions should to some extent valid, because it's not politically influenced.
Was Abiola Ajimobi truly abandoned by the Oyo State government as claimed as claimed by his wife? Mrs Ajimobi claimed that her husband deserve to be treated better because he served the state. However, His Excellency Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Abiodun Makinde has been far away from Oyo state in Benin, Edo State for an assignment given to him by his party.
According to the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan when he and some state officials went to pay the family of the deceased politician a condolence visit. The deputy governor insisted the governor called Mrs Ajimobi but she refused to answer the call of the executive governor. However, she responded that she doesn't answer calls from any unknown number because she is the wife of a former politician.
For me, the Ajimobis are still bearing grudges in their mind. Engr Seyi Makinde ahs been charitable enough to have appointed people from APC, ADC, ADP & other opposition parties in his cabinet. Is that a level of charity and benevolence that can be got from either the former Governor or his wife?
Despite all the castigations from every quarter Governor Seyi Makinde also claim he broke the standing protocol of the state by letting his body buried in a GRA. He also flied flags in honor of the immediate past governor.
Personally, I feel she is still reacting to the situation based on the reality of the 2019 elections. She feels her husband did not deserve the "humiliating" defeat he got, thus She wants to transfer her aggression and put all the blame on Seyi Makinde.
If you are still blaming Makinde for not cancelling his official trip to Benin, Edo State just to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late politician, I will like to let you know that since Senator Ajimobi died none of her businesses has been shutdown for a day to mourn her "darling" husband. But the same person is demanding empathy from a Governor whose state's Covid-19 patients is increasing continuously lately.
Trust me it's difficult to be emphatic for any politician in Nigeria or their family. None of their actions and decisions are for the best interest of the public.
