Anthony Martial scored three times as United leapfrogged the Blades as they continued their fine recent run. Martial opened the scoring after just six minutes from close range before finishing well from an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross just before half-time. He wrapped up his hat-trick after the break with another well-taken goal as the hosts made it 13 games unbeaten.

Here's how it played out at Old Trafford.

SUBS United's win keeps them in fifth, on 49 points, but Wolves remain close behind. They're level on points with the Red Devils, while Sheffield United are now five points back in eighth.

Crucially, United find themselves only two points away from Chelsea, who play Manchester City tomorrow.

A performance that deserved the adulation of a full house at Old Trafford.

For Sheffield United, this is another day to forget. Before the postponement of the season, only Manchester City and Liverpool had beaten the Blades on their travels. Now they've lost back-to-back away games 3-0, and looked bereft of ideas in both. Plenty to consider for Wilder and his players.

That's it! An emphatic victory for United and one that keeps them in fifth place. Martial will get the headlines for his hat-trick, and deservedly so, but Rashford, Pogba and Fernandes were all excellent, too. The future's bright for Solskjaer's team, it seems.

90+1 min: There'll be three minutes of added time.

89 min: Chance! Shaw picks out Ighalo in space in the box but the forward's touch lets him down and he's crowded out. Ighalo managers to work the ball onto his left and shoot but his effort deflects wide.

87 min: United are coasting to victory now, knocking the ball around and making sure they don't exert themselves too much on what has no doubt been an uncomfortable evening to play football.

Callum Rice-Coates |

84 min: James feeds Ighalo in the box and the on-loan striker sells a couple of defenders and bears down on goal. Moore comes out and forces him wide before he can shoot.

Callum Rice-Coates |

83 min: McBurnie has a go from distance and wakes De Gea from his slumber. The Spaniard is alert enough to make a routine save.

80 min: This very much has the feel of a friendly now as United make five changes in one go. Martial gets a deserved rest, while Pogba, Rashford, Fernandes and Greenwood are also withdrawn. Ighalo, James, McTominay, Pereira and Mata come on.

Callum Rice-Coates |

79 min: Sheffield United are heading towards one point from their first three post-lockdown games, then. It takes nothing away from their achievements this season, but Wilder may wonder if he needs to change something in the weeks to come.

Callum Rice-Coates |

77 min: That goal has well and truly put this game to bed, though it was already petering out as a contest. Fernandes was instrumental in the lead up to it again, and Martial finding this kind of form is an exciting prospect for United supporters.

GOAL! Manchester United 3-0 Sheffield United (Martial) 74 min

Brilliant! A superb United goal, and one that brings up Martial's hat-trick. The Frenchman finds Rashford, who returns the ball with an incisive through pass. Martial, with just Moore to beat, lifts his finish over the goalkeeper with a delicate and perfectly executed scooped lob.
