He tweeted: "The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) has been disbanded following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari." 

It is also understood that Mai Mala Buni, a former Party National Secretary and Yobe State Governor, has been appointed as APC Caretaker Chairman and chair of an Extraordinary Convention to be held on a letter date.

He added, “The issues currently confronting our party at this time are such that should worry every party member.

“At the moment, our great party is faced with internal wrangling; there are ongoing litigations amongst some party members and we cannot clearly ascertain the status of certain National Working Committee (NWC) members.”

President Buhari was also worried about what he described as ‘shifting loyalty’ within the party and ‘inconsistency in leadership’, saying such have exposed the party to mockery.

According to him, there are also other associated disputes as to the legitimacy of holders of certain national offices of the party while the APC is contending with judicial claims and counter-claims, orders and counter-orders, as well as judgments and counter-judgments that are predominantly at cross-purposes

A Tanzanian small-scale miner has become a multi-millionaire after uncovering two of the biggest of the country’s precious tanzanite stones ever found and selling them to the government.

Dubai Police have seized $40.9m in cash and more than a dozen luxury cars in the arrest of Hushpuppi, Nigerian Instagram celebrity accused of online fraud and money laundering.

Hushpuppi’s principal scam was to create websites that looked identical to well-known companies and banks, it is alleged.

The gang hacked corporate emails and directed huge payments by companies towards accounts they controlled.

Olalekan Jacob Ponle, known as Woodberry, was also arrested along with ten other men in an operation involving six police SWAT teams.

Along with 13 luxury cars, valued at an estimated $6.8m, police confiscated 21 computers and 47 smartphones.

The gang had 119,580 “fraud files” as well as addresses of more than 1.92 million victims.

Hushpuppi posed as a real estate investor and businessman, with more than two million followers on Instagram.

His account shows a lavish display of wealth, landing at Atlantis, The Palm in a helicopter and flying across the globe by private yet.

At a wedding in Dubai attended by Nigerian celebrities that made headlines in his home country, he was seen in a video dancing around the room throwing $100 notes into the air.

Abbas posed as a successful businessman “celebrating his wealth via social media platforms, in an attempt to lure victims from all over the world,” Dubai Police CID chief Brig Jamal Al Jalaf said.

The Rivers State Executive Council has approved new guidelines for marriages during the Covid-19 period in the State.

State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim announced the Council’s decision while briefing newsmen at Government House Port Harcourt.

Paulinus said prospective couples would be required to apply to the State Governor through the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation.

“Such applications must be accompanied with information on the venue of the ceremony, names, addresses and phone numbers of attendees to make contact tracing easy if the need arises.

“Marriages would not have more than 50 attendees, including family members who must wear face masks and adhere strictly to social distancing of not less than two meters.

“While church weddings must be conducted between 9am and 12noon, traditional marriages would be conducted between 4pm and 7pm.

“Venues of marriages must have provisions for running water and soap at three points and the venue decontaminated after the event,” he said.
