MirabelJackson 06/24/2020

Ever since the news broke out this evening that the president had accepted Chief Victor Giadom, the fmr national deputy secretary, as the new acting chairman of the APC, some Nigerians and mostly, the south westerners from Fayemi's and Tinubu's region have lashed out at Fayemi calling him a traitor on social media for betraying Tinubu.

According to some insinuations, the national leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu is allegedly nursing a presidential ambition, and the only man that would carefully craft that package was the erstwhile chairman, Adams Oshiomole.

Earlier today, the Nation News, online news platform, first broke the story on Fayemi and Giadom's shameful' visit to Aso rock.

According to the online media platform, it reported that Fayemi was sent back by Prof Gambari, the chief of staff who told him the president could not see him.

The story alleged that Fayemi had gone to see the president in the company of the new chairman, Victor Giadom to present him to the president and also convince him on why Giadom should be the next chairman.

This move, as seen by many south westerners, is tantamount to betrayal.

This is because the move if positive would cause the removal of Oshiomole and in turn, scuttle the presidential ambition of the national leader, Tinubu.

However, Fayemi, through his press secretary had long issued a statement debunking the news.

It is important to note that even as the nation reported that the duo of Fayemi and Giadom were not allowed to see the president, the reverse was the case as the president clearly accepted Giadom as the next chairman as announced by his spokesman, Garba Shehu.

Fayemi's actions should not be seen as an act of betrayal.

If anything, he has tried to put the party together. it reeks of shame and total irresponsibility for a ruling party such as APC, to be thrown into such unwholesome fights which if not properly looked into, may cost them the Edo election as it is possible the NEC may review it tomorrow.

It is important to note Gov Fayemi has not made any public statement on these issues neither has he taken sides publicly so how does the issue of betrayal come to play?

In his position as the Chairman, Nigeria governors forum, Fayemi has chosen country first before personal interest and he should be applauded for it.
