Five foods that are harmful to the sperm cells; men take note

No one knows why sperm counts are falling precipitously. Some say sperm are vanishing due to men resting laptops on their laps. Others blame the heat generated from cell phones sitting in pants pockets. Obesity is a likely factor. The doctor in me knows that the drop is likely due to a variety of factors. What we eat is always a culprit for any health problem. Accordingly, several studies have showed that some foods may be harmful to the sperm, some of which we are going to be looking at later. The good news is that there are also foods that may improve sperm quality.

Five foods that decrease sperm health

Before I discuss foods that can affect sperm health, it's important to know that some of these foods are essential for the body system as it contains certain diet in them, so in order no to be diet deficient, you can eat other sources of the diet they produce.

So let's take a look at some of the foods that are harmful to the sperm cells;

1. Processed meats

Processed meats include hot dogs, salami, beef jerky, bacon, etc. I get it; they’re delicious. Yes, bacon can make anything taste better. In the case of sperm, several studies connect eating processed red meat will decrease sperm count and motility. It’s not clear how these foods affect sperm, but it appears the effect isn’t a positive one. So be warned, mind you, you can go for other forms of meat as it also provides the protein requirements of the body.

2. Trans fats

Unfortunately, the concerns don’t stop there, as it have been confirmed that trans fat is also harmful to the sperm cell. Therefore, men should take note. Trans fats are mostly snacks and cheese which are not mostly taken by men but a few do.

3. Soy products

Studies have proven, that excessive soy intake will decrease sperm concentration. It is therefore advisable for all men to shun soy products and go for other products because your health is your wealth.


4. Pesticides and bisphenol a (BPA)

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. To be sincere, these are probably the scariest on the list because they are not foods, but they still end up in what we eat. Plus, they’re everywhere. Obviously, pesticides end up on vegetables and fruits. They also end up in meat and fish due to tainted water supplies. BPA is no better—it’s in most food packaging and cans. It slowly leeches into the foods we eat. Both BPA and chemicals within pesticides act as xenoestrogens—chemicals that mimic estrogen. Just like the phytoestrogens in soy, just like estrogen in soy products, pesticides contain xenoestrogen which have the same effect as estrogen on the sperm cell(negative). Men should therefore avoid can foods and go for fresh foods instead.

5. High fat dairy products

This explain how vital it is in the development of an individual. However, studies and analysis of sperm and diet from 189 men between the ages of 18-22, showed that high-fat dairy products (whole milk, cream and cheese) were associated with decreased sperm motility and sperm concentration. Some of this could be due to sex steroids given to cows. It is therefore advisable for men to reduce their intake of milk and other dairy products as it has it own negative effect.

I know many will be wondering how on earth this foods can be harmful to the body but these are real facts, verified and cross checked, so , for the upcoming boys try your best possible in seeing that you reduce he intake of these foods or if possible avoid them completely.
