President Muhammadu Buhari condoled with the governments and people of Oyo State over the loss of a former governor of the state, Oyo. Abiola Ajimobi.

Mr Ajimobi’s passing came a week after he was rumoured to have died at the same private hospital. That rumour turned to be false. But truly, his death was announced yesterday 25th of June 2020.

The president mourned with the family of the demise, Ajimobi who served as a senator before winning the governorship election in 2011.

Ajimobi was a senator from 2003 to 2007. After unsuccessful attempts, he was ultimately elected as governor in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. He was also the first Oyo State governor to serve two terms.

According to the presidential Aide, Femi Adesina, He said: "Ajimobi's absence will be felt by all the associates, particularly the APC member. Says, Buhari.

The state governors in Nigeria, under the Nigeria Governors Forum, also expressed condolences to Ajimobi’s family.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the death of the former Governor as a great loss to his family, the people of the Oyo State.

His skills and experience are required at this critical period in our national life because he was more than a politician.

He added that Senator Ajimobi was a distinguished Nigerian. He made his mark in the corporate world before venturing into politics.

The chairman of the forum, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State in a statement, also described the late Ajimobi as lively and fatherly.

He added that, Ajimobi made provision of valuable counsel to the forum and members during his time as governor.

And also, there was never a dull moment with Ajimobi, the former Governor of oyo state.

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stated that, the APC party has lost one of its leading lights. The Yoruba race and Oyo State have lost a favourite son, a dedicated friend, brother, and ally.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu added that, Ajimobi was a true performer which made him become the first governor to ever win a second term in the history of the state.

Seyi Makinde, Oyo state Governor express his condolences as he said, I join the good people of Oyo State as we mourn the death of a statesman.

I cannot begin to imagine the pain the family must be going through at this time, but It is my prayer that God grants them all the strength to bear this great loss.
