Femi Adebayo Lateef is a popular Yoruba actor. He took after his Father, Adebayo Salami also known as Oga Bello who is an accomplished, well to do actor, director and movie producer. Femi Adebayo is a Nigerian lawyer, film actor, director and producer. He was the former Special Adviser to the Governor of Kwara State on Arts, Culture and Tourism.

Femi Adebayo Lateef was born on December 31, 1972 in Lagos, Nigeria. He hails from Ilorin, Kwara state but he was born and breed in Lagos state, Nigeria into a large polygamous family and his father has many children, and according to him, must of Oga Bello’s children are graduates.


The actor attended the University of Ilorin where he bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master of Arts (M. A) in Theatre Arts. He also bagged a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Ibadan.

Adebayo’s ambition for a very long time since when he was a kid was to be a lawyer. His father, Oga bello is a very supportive father especially when it comes to his children’s career. And he does not bother himself with any career they choose to study, since that is what they want, he gives them his 100% attention and support.

Femi Adebayo’s love for acting was built in him, when he saw his father on the TV for the very first time. Then when he grew up he subsequently sojourned into acting. His father noticed his interest in acting and decided to give him 100% support in every area, even after he finished with the Law degree. Femi Adebayo’s father influenced him indirectly to be a better actor.

Femi had been on and off the screen due to his academics. He made a debut in his father’s first movie, Ogun Ajaye in 1985. Then in 1996, he came to limelight after taking a lead role in Owo Blow, a movie produced by Tade Ogidan. Thereafter, he got into the movie industry fully in 2006. Since this success, Femi Adebayo has gone on to become a household name as far as Yoruba Movies are concerned.

He has starred in hundreds of Yoruba/English movies (home videos) and has also won the hearts of a lot of people in Nigeria and abroad, who are fans of Yoruba movies.


The actor is a happy father of three children born by his first wife Khadijat. This was his ever first marriage and, just as many things in life, turned out to be a failure. Khadijat gave birth to the three adorable kids within the eight years of their marriage but in the end, they decided not to wait any longer and broke apart.

Though rumor has it that the cause of their divorce was the actor’s alleged romance with his colleague, a popular Nigerian actress Funke Akindele. However, neither of the actors confirm the rumor about the affair was true. With the reason that his wife Khadijat decided to divorce him because she had never really liked his profession, his success in acting career, and had never supported him in his work. At the same time, Femi doesn’t blame her. He says the divorce occurred only because of the misunderstanding. He denies any infidelity from the side of any spouse in their couple.


Long years after the divorce with his first wife, Femi met his current wife Omotayo Memunat. This was the first marriage for the young woman and she seems to radiate happiness when she’s beside her famous celebrity hubby, as they are blessed with a child.

Also, he established a film school for those interested in acting named J-15 School of Performing Arts, located in Ibadan. The school has produced over 150 granduates since its inception. Some are even lecturers of Theatre Arts in various Universities in the country.


In 2016, Adebayo was appointed by the Kwara State Governor as a member of the State Executive Council. He was also the Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor on Arts, Culture, and Tourism.


In 2018, the decision to dissolve the council was announced by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold.

Prior to this announcement, there have been encouragements from the Kwara Youth Group for the actor to contest at the next general election to the post of Member of the Kwara state House of Assembly.

But the actor was considering it and he was yet to make up his mind. Many people in Kwara have lauded Adebayo for his excellent contribution to the growth of Arts, Culture and Tourism in Kwara State.
