Race for European spot heats up as Burnley go ahead of Arsenal, Sheffield United on the League table

Burnley maintained their pursuit of European football when they travelled to Selhurst Park on Monday June 29 thanks to the winning goal from the Club's skipper Ben Mee which was his 7th goal in nine years.

Just after days Burnley was thrashed by Manchester City with 5 goals to nil,they have responded well by beating Watford in their previous fixture and they continued their winning run when the went away to Crystal Palace on Wednesday at Selhurst Park.

It was the captain Ben Mee that opened the scoring after throwing himself to meet a free kick from Ashley Westwood which he headed off the wood work into the bottom right corner in the 61st minute.

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. On this note,Burnley has now leapfrogged Arsenal and Sheffield United to 8th position with Arsenal and Sheffield United in the 10th and 9th position respectively.

Although, Burnley has played a total of 32 matches compared to Arsenal's 31 but Burnley are currently occupying the 8th position,locked on the same point with Tottenham Hotspur and just 4 points behind Manchester United in sixth leading both Arsenal and Sheffield United currently with 45 points from 32 games.

Burnley are now very much in the race for an European spot as they are eligible to progress to the Europa League qualifying round given Manchester City ban is not overturned.
