The statement was signed by Mr Oladimeji Fabiyi, Deputy Director of the defunct Atiku Support Group/Mobilization Presidential Campaign Organisation, quoted Abubakar as directing that the 150 independent support groups, in Edo be activated in support of Obaseki, PDP’s flag bearer in the election.

Adding that, the fire stations could be seen across the state neglected over the years, incapacitating the service in the aspects of response time, equipment efficiency, and staff motivation, while number of the fire stations have now been completely renovated, even as the statewide exercise continues.


News: Airfares may rise as FAAN hikes service charges by 100%

Airfares on domestic and international routes are set to rise, as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria is to increase the passenger service charges, on flight tickets by 100 per cent from August 1, 2020, adding that the authority would increase the PSC on domestic flights from the current rate of N1,000 to N2,000.


FAAN would also hike the PSC on international flights from $50 to $100, a development that would warrant a rise in airfares on local and international tickets, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Friday in Abuja, as they stressed that the hike in PSCs would definitely be passed to passengers, just like Airlines collect the PSCs on behalf of FAAN when selling flight tickets to passengers.


FAAN’s Managing Director, Rabiu Yadudu, made the agency’s position on PSCs known in a letter to airlines, that the airlines that the decision was based on the approval given by the Minister of Aviation.


News: AGF refusing to pay after I exposed $1bn account —Whistleblower

A whistleblower, John Okupurhe, has written a letter to the President, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari, accusing the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), of refusing to pay him his reward after exposing over $1bn hidden in Unity Bank Plc, in a letter written by his lawyer, Aliyu Lemu.


The whistleblower said, the account was secretly being operated by the Nigerian Ports Authority, to illegally collect revenue from vessels, upon discovery, he informed the Office of the AGF, in line with the whistleblower policy of the secret account and an agreement.


The agreement stated that, Okpurhe would be entitled to a reward, if the information provided turned out credible, after playing his own part, the AGF’s office began to play games, as AGF been making flimsy excuses as to why the reward was not been paid.


News: Customs destroy cannabis worth N1bn

The Nigerian Customs Service, has destroyed 10,000 kilogrammes of cannabis in Lagos, on Friday by the Comproller l of the Western Marine Command, Ibafo, Olugboyega Peter’s, who spoke with journalists in Badagry, noting that the cannabis was recovered on April 21, 2020 at Agaja Beach in Lagos State.

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, has called on the immediate-past National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, to return to Edo State to ‘energise’ the campaign of the party’s governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, in a statement on Saturday while reacting to the dissolution of the National Working Committee, by the President, Muhammadu Buhari.


Recalled Oshiomhole, has been engaged in a battle with his successor, Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is seeking a second term in office, after Obaseki was disqualified by the APC and subsequently, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, where he emerged as the PDP candidate for 2020 governorship polls.
