Delta Police arrest 2 over rape of 14 years old

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The Delta State Police Command have arrested a 37 year old man, Rukevwe Mathew, who was alleged to have raped a 14 year old girl, Ejiro Iyedo, and the manager of an hotel in Sapele, Delta State, where the act was alleged to have been carried out.

   Confirming the arrest today, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onowhakpoyeya, told Newsmen that the two persons we're arrest this week " and as I speak to you they are making useful statements to the police and I assure you we will take them to court as soon as investigation is completed.

  Rukevwe was allege to have lured the 14 years old girl, Ejiro to Standard Forte, an hotel situated along Adegor by Adeniyi road area of the town, where she was repeatedly raped and was said to have dumped the victim at an hospital along Atufe road before fleeing after he found out, she was bleeding.

   A source who craved anonymity told Newsmen that after Rukevwe dumped the teenager there, it was the doctor who took the little girl's parents no and informed them while the parents informed the police.

  However the case was said to have gained public attention after Ejiro was detained rather than the suspect "the police invited Rukevwe to the station and the next thing we knew was that, Ejiro was being detained by the police and kept behind bars, while Rukevwe is walking the streets free, and as we speak, the girl is still being detained at the Sapele police station" the source, who begged not to be revealed, said.

  However the police was said to have arrested Rukevwe and the hotel manager, where the rape was said to have been carried out, on Monday morning and Ejiro was released, after an online medium published a story on Sunday over a case of illegal detention against the Sapele Police.
