Dean Henderson is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Sheffield United, on loan from fellow Premier League club Manchester United. He is currently 23 years old.

Henderson signed his first professional contract with Manchester United in 2015 and extended it in 2018 for a further two years until 2022, but as yet has not played a first-team game for the club, having instead been loaned out to a number of other teams. These "other" teams include Sheffield United with whom he currently plies is trade with.

The young stopper is now in his second season on loan at Bramall Lane and has helped Chris Wilder’s Blades to eighth in the Premier League.

Henderson has been a consistent presence in the original Sheffield United’s Premier League side this season, missing only two games – against his parent club, because of the terms of his loan agreement. But why is that so?

Because of a clause in his loan contract, Henderson was ineligible to play against Manchester United in the Premier League today. When quizzed about him playing pre-match Solskjaer said:

"We need to make sure Dean plays football to develop and he needs games I am just happy he doesn't play against us tomorrow,"

Dean has been in fantastic form for Sheffield United this season, even better than David De Gea, Manchester United first choice Goal keeper. The stats speaks for themselves.

Gareth Southgate has been at Bramall Lane a number of times this season to watch Henderson, who has twice been drafted into the senior squad after injuries to Heaton and is thought to have impressed in training.

Southgate may consider giving him a spot in England’s Euro 2020 squad this summer on the horizon after Tom Heaton of Aston Villa suffered a season-ending injury.
