Uwaila's Death: Theodore Sunday Cries Innocent from Police Custody

As the investigation of the Nigerian Police continues on the rape and murder case of late. Miss. Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 level microbiology student of the university of Benin, Awoh Theodore Sunday (300 level student of English Language and Literature from the department of Educational Foundation) who was apprehended by the Nigerian police on the fifth of June has cried out for help. In a letter dated as addressed to the president of the students union, university of Benin, Comr. Egwu Benjamin, the student who cried innocent is pleading that the students union, his faculty executive, and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) come to his rescue. He wrote "I have been unlawfully detained and my fundamental human right of 'habeas corpus' had been violated."

In another development, it was said that Awoh Theodore has been a victim of mistaken identity as he was arrested instead of a certain Livinus Elem for his comment on Facebook about Uwaila's death. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.

Theodore Sunday has since 21st of June 2020 been transfered to Abuja after spending days in the state Criminal Investigative Department cell, Sapele road, Benin city in Edo state. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.

Meanwhile, the President of the UNIBEN SUG, Comr. Egwu Benjamin alongside Comr. Salawu Kehinde, the President of NUESA, UNIBEN accompanied by members of NANS visited the state police headquarters where they were told that his case has been transfered to Abuja for further investigation. Miss. Uwaila was reported raped on the 23rd of May 2020 and died of severe injury inflict on her on the 27th of same month at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
