It's well known that the federal government imposed total lockdown in Schools and other sectors in Nigeria three months ago, in order to ease the spread of covid-19 virus. But it has been noted that others sectors has started their activities. Unfortunately, schools are yet to reopen due to the fact that the federal government cannot risk the lives of students by reopening schools for them amid covid-19 pandemic.

Recently, president Muhammad Buhari in conjunction with the federal government has vested powers on the state governments to decide when to lift lockdown in their various states. For instance, restrictions on churches and mosques have been lifted by the federal government yet some states like Lagos didn't agree to the decision of federal government due to the persistence increase in the number of affected persons in their state.

In reference to this, some state governors have announced school resumption date in their various states like Oyo, Borno and Cross Rivers.

Looking at the persistence increase in covid-19 cases in some states, like on 24th of June 2020, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC), reports 649 new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria on Wednesday, 23rd of June, 2020.

The new cases were announced during the country's daily update on coronavirus.

The total Covid-19 confirmed cases in Nigerian have risen from 21,371 which announced on Tuesday to 22,020 after the new cases were announced on Wednesday night.

Lagos State recorded the highest new cases with 250 new cases, the NCDC Coronavirus statistic table shows that Lagos state record the highest daily case most of the time.

The Centre highlighted that the new cases were recorded in 21 states across the country and the Federal Capital Territory(Abuja) which is reported as follows;

250 cases from Lagos, 100 cases from Oyo, 40 cases each from Plateau and Delta, 28 cases from Abia, 27 cases from Kaduna, 22 cases from Ogun, 20 cases from Edo, 18 cases from Akwa Ibom, 17 cases each from Kwara and FCT, 14 cases from Enugu, 13 cases each from Niger and Adamawa, 7 cases from Bayelsa, 6 cases each from Osun and Bauchi, 4 cases from Anambra, 3 cases from Gombe, 2 cases from Sokoto, 1 cases each from Imo and Kano state.

Looking at this, all secondary and primary school located in the above listed states may not resume schools this year 2020 due to high increase in affection covid-19 patients in the states.

12. Day Waterman College, Abeokuta

13. Meadow Hall College, Lagos

14. Greensprings schools, Lagos

15. Atlantic Hall, Lagos
