Governor Nyesom Wike Clears The Air On His 2023 Presidential Ambition

As the 2023 General Elections draws near, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has cleared the air by saying that he is not nursing the ambition of running for the office of the president of the country. He stated this while featuring in a television programme monitored in Port Harcourt.
In his statement, He said the speculations linking him to presidential ambition were mere distractions. He went further to say that right now he is focusing on delivering the dividend of democracy to the people of Rivers State. He said in 2018 and 2019 when he was supporting his good friend, Aminu Waziri Tambulwal, it was speculated all over the media that he was going to run with him.
Governor Wike said to clear every speculations, he is not going to run for the office of the President of this country for now. He said he is concentrating in developing Rivers State. He said I am not a party to anybody saying that the problem in PDP is about 2023. When commenting on former vice president Atiku Abubakar's aspiration to contest for the presidency 2023, he said it was a fundamental right that could not be denied.
In conclusion, he said on the matter of zoning of the PDP presidential ticket to the North, the NEC of the party had not taken a final decision. He said they will come together as a party and resolve the issue, because they are family.
