Nigeria and Ghana are the two leading countries in West Africa and have shared friendship ties being co-members in ECOWAS, AU,COMMON WEALTH and other international organizations.

However, the latest development between the two countries is not a welcome development as Ghana has acted with impunity against Nigeria by destroying part of Nigeria's embassy in her homeland. The Nigerian government to the admiration of other African countries that look up to her as the Giant of Africa has taken it in good fate.

The Nigerian presidency on Wednesday, 24th of June, 2020, said it would not do something similar to Ghana. The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, stated this in an interview in Abuja. The Nigerian presidential spokesman said that the decision by the Nigerian government not to retaliate was as a result of the apology tendered earlier by the Ghanaian president, Nana Akujo Addo, over the incident. He further stated that the Ghana president had called and tendered unreserved apology to the president of Nigeria over the matter. In his words, he said that the Ghanaian president had shown a great deal of maturity in this incident and there was no need engaging in street fighting with Ghana.
