Chauffeur to Former Wajir Senator Vanishes With Ksh 2.1 Million, Abandons Car in Town

A chauffeur to former Wajir Senator Abdirahman Ali Hassan has disappeared with ex lawmakers KSh 2.1 million.

According to a police report filed at the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) at Parliament, the driver's legislator dropped his customer in a meeting before vanishing with the said cash.

Police say after the driver dropped former legislator at the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre (KICC) for meeting, he drove off and dumped the car at Nyayo House before escaping with cash.

The meeting which lasted less than 20 minutes was enough for the chauffeur to become an instant millionaire.

"When he came out after 20 minutes, he found that his driver had driven off with the motor vihecle KBU 261A make Toyota Land Cruiser V8 which had Ksh 2.1 million in a racksack in the rear seat of the vihecle," police said in a statement.

However, police acted swiftly and manages to recover the Toyota land cruiser which was parked at Nyayo House.

The men in blue have launched a manhunt for the suspect and would be arraigned in court once caught.

Cases of drivers stealing from their bosses have been skyrocketing in Kenya in the recent past though majority steal fuel.

This comes at a time when an Uber driver is facing the wrath of the law after he sold a car belonging to his boss.

Meshack Kiambi is being accused of stealing a Toyota Passo worth Ksh 700,000 belonging to David Kimani a month ago.

Kiambi advertised for the sale of the car at Ksh 360,000 in local dailies but later sold it to Geoffrey Ngunyi at just Ksh 248,000.
