Following the removal of Garrisa Township MP Aden Duale from the position of majority leader of national assembly, many have been left wondering who will take over as the political kingpin of Somali community in Kenya.

Duale has all along been the Somali community highest ranking political leader in the National government.

According to Kenya based lawyer Amhednasir Abdullahi who is of Somali descend, there is a high probability of Junet Muhamed who is the Suna East Mp and the minority whip in the National assembly taking over as the new politics kingpin of Somali people in Kenya.

“With the removal of Hon Duale as leader of majority, is the natural POLITICAL leader of the Somali Community in Kenya Hon @JunetMohamed of Suna, Migori?,” lawyer Abdullahi tweeted.

Following a meeting held earlier in the week at KICC, Duale became the latest casualty of the Jubilee party house clean up that is spearheaded by the party leader president Uhuru Kenyatta.

After his ouster, he was replaced by Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya as the new majority leader of the national assembly.

His ouster elicited mixed reactions, and though many agreed that Duale had been competent in his work as majority leader for the past seven years, he had to go since jubilee party had lost confidence in him.

In the national assembly, Deputy president William Ruto allies who have been affected by the party purge include; Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali and nominated MP Cecil Mbarire who were both removed from the majority whip and deputy whip position respectively, during the last PG meeting that was held at the State House.

Washiali was replaced by Navakholo Mp Emmanuel Wagwe while Mbarire was replaced by Ighembe North Mp, Maoka Maore.

In the senate all the tanga tanga allied members were relieved of their various positions in the senate committee.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika were the first to the axe from their majority leader and whip positions respectively.

Samuel Poghisio took over from Murkomen while Irungu Kangata took over as the senate whip from Kihika.

Following the removal of all tanga tanga allied MPs, who were accused of sabotaging Uhuru’s agenda, from various committee positions in the national assembly, ODM Mps are expected to be the leading beneficiaries of the now vacant positions.
