Waluke, a former Kenya army general is on the dock for defrauding National Cereals and Produce Board over 300 million alongside co-accused Grace Wakhungu. The court is expected to sentence the two on Thursday after they were found quilty and detained on Monday.
During his submission, Dansatan Omari representing Waluke urged the court to be lenient to the Mp for the role he played during the botched 1982 coup. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
“We will be exposing Waluke to COVID- 19...He also saved former President Moi in 1982 coup .There's a general feeling that he is an MP and therefore can do what he wants… Let it go on record that the alleged offence was committed when he was not an MP,” Omari said.
This elicited criticism from Kenyans on social media.

@fred_kahari How I wish that there could be all law stipulating that once found guilty of corruption you're jailed at least 10 years but it's very unfortunate there nothing of that sort. The issues the lawyers are even raising for a better sentence are pointless.
@AmbLawren So this is what happens to lawyers when they have ran out of ideas on how to save an already guilty person in court?? Look at how Ombieta is fumbling and trying to cook ideas from the roof.....
@Psosebe Poor argument. The law should be applied, these lawyers are only speaking kizungu mingi without substance.
@mlesterh Even if he was an MP, crimes should be paid for equally. Are we saying if am a leader I should steal and expect to be treated liniently than any other Kenyan? We are joking!
