Gikomba with its beehive of activities serves as an employment base for thousands of Kenyans and such an incident amounts to great economic loss.

Kamukunji Member of Parliament, Yusuf Hasan, and his Starehe counterpart, Charles Njagua, had pledged to Gikomba business community that they would establish the cause of these constant fires and bring an end to the same. However, with another fire coming barely 3 months, it seems the traders will have to wait a little longer before this is done.
Recently the traders have been complaining of lack of stock due to the ban on importation of Mitumba clothes due to covid 19. Kamukunji Mp tabled a bill before the parliament to have this ban removed. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
