View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Jenny Slate has announced she will no longer voice the character of Missy Foreman-Greenwald, a young mixed race girl on the animated comedy "Big Mouth". She has played the character since the Netflix show first aired it at 2017. She explained her departure in a few words " Black characters should be played by black people".

She goes on and points that accepting to voice that character was flawed and an example of white privilege. Which she realizes its continuty will be an original erasure of the black people.

She admits and apologizes of the mistakes she's made in the industry including the use of white privileges and unjust allowances made within a system of societal white supremacy. She takes full accountability of her choices and continues engaging meaningful anti-racist action.  View pictures in App save up to 80% data.

Big Mouth creators Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flacklett seconded Slate's decision and promised to reassign the role to a black person. 

"We sincerely apologize for and regret our original decision to cast a white actor to voice a biracial character.".
