Sirisia MP John Waluke and his co-accused Grace Wakhungu will pay a fine of close to Sh2 billion or serve at least 39 years in prison after they were found guilty of defrauding a state agency.

While sentencing the two, Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Juma said the offences they committed were serious. She added that the two and their company took advantage of a dire situation in the country, as Kenya faced a drought, to defraud the National Cereals and Produce Board.

What is worrying is that they had stolen the money when DP Ruto aka the hustler was the Agriculture Minister in 2009. Does it mean that everywhere the hustler goes there must be corruption and money heists? Or this is just a wider scheme by the so called dynasties and the system to tarnish the man's good name prior to the 2022 translation elections?

The Waluke and Wakhungu graft case was among the first cases approved for prosecution by DPP Noordin Haji upon taking office in April 2018. The DPP gave consent for prosecution of the case on 1st of August 2018. The case has taken less than 2 years to conclude.

In a Land Mark ruling the Court fined Sirisia MP John Waluke Ksh 727 million & Grace Wakhungu Ksh 707 million. If they default each will serve a 7 years imprisonment for fraudulently receiving Ksh 313 million from the NCPB.

The fraud at NCPB was committed over 10 years ago when DP Ruto was the then minister for Agriculture.
