Kenya is currently fighting with the novel coronavirus. By Now, 5206 covid-19 cases have been reported in Kenya. These cases comes from over 150,000 samples tested since the first covid-19 was reported in Kenya. The number of covid-19 recoveries is growing slowly which indicates Kenya will win the war against the virus anytime soon because over 1800 individuals have fully recovered from the disease. Covid-19 disease has claimed lives of 130 individuals in kenya.
As Kenya continues to battle with the coronavirus disease, several world donors have shown their interest in assisting Kenya. For instance, the Action against hunger have donated 40,000 cartons of ready to use Therapeutic Food worth USD 2.35 Million through the "Sheikh Al Thani" Foundation. The donation has been received by the principal secretary in the ministry of health in Kenya Susan Mochache. MOH has confirmed this donation through its Twitter handle. Secondly, the ministry of health has indeed cleared the doubts concerning the asymptomatic patients. The director general in the ministry of health has indeed said that 78% of covid-19 patients in Kenya have either mild symptoms or asymptomatic and hence can be treated at home for those who meet the qualifications. In conjunction to this, the ministry of health in Kenya has announced that its already training health care workers and community health volunteers to educate the caregivers or households about home based care and isolation programme. So far Kenya is the best country within Eastern Africa that is running the home based care programme to manage covid-19.
