Cabinet Secretary For ICT Joe Mucheru Clears The Air on 5G Network And Hints On Huduma Number

Since the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus disease, there has been a lot of conspiracy theories circulated on the different social media platforms about the origin of Coronavirus.

Others associated it with the 5th generation network commonly known as 5G. Today during the daily Coronavirus press briefing updates the. Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru has confirmed that there is no 5G network in Kenya at the moment.

He, therefore, dismissed all the rumors circulating on social media that there is 5G in the country. He also rubbished the allegations linking Coronavirus disease with technology. He said the only network in the country is 2G, 3G, and 4G.

He assured Kenyans that the government will continue to use the relevant technology to fight the coronavirus disease. A week ago there were reported plans of the government to introduce a contact tracing app to assist in tracing the coronavirus patients.

The plan is still ongoing but numerous challenges are expected to be experienced. Joe Mucheru also hinted on Huduma numbers which might be on the way coming soon. He said all the citizens' health records details will be contained in the Huduma numbers.

He spoke after 178 cases of Coronavirus were confirmed by CAS Mercy Mwangangi.
