Court Hands Keroche Breweries Reprieve After Issuing Order To Deposit Ksh100M Instead Of Ksh500M

The court of appeal in Kenya today has handed the Keroche breweries limited a relieve in the ongoing tax evasion case. The high court had earlier this year ordered the company to pay 500 million. The company is accused of evading the tax payments of over kshs 9 billion.
On Thursday 25th June 2020, the court of appeal in Kenya jas instead directed the company to deposit Ksh100 million within 45 days from today.
In the decision, the court has said that it was was arrived at after considering all factors in the ruling including the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that has disrupted business operations not just in Kenya but the world at large.
In the previous past, Business tycoons in Kenya have been accused of evading tax payments by the Kenya Revenu Authority. This move has not been good at all considering the ordinary citizen is paying tax.
