Panic In Moi Teaching And Referral After A Patient Is Tested Positive Of Coronavirus

Fear has engulfed Moi Teaching and Referral hospital after a patient who were in contact with a number of health providers in the facility tested positive for coronavirus , the patient who is said to have been waiting for scheduled surgery was confirmed to be positive of Coronavirus .
According to the hospital's CEO DR Wilson Aruasa , the patient was in contact with health providers and doctors in the ward .
More than twenty health professionals who were in contact with the said patient have since been put under quarantine and samples taken for tests of the Coronavirus . View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
The director of the facility said that a follow up was done after rumors from where the patient came from Langas had spread largely . He said the samples were taken on Wednesday just a day before the scheduled surgery then he was confirmed to be positive sending panic to the doctors who were in contact with the patient .
"Our staff who came in contact with the patient have been put on quarantine so as the family of the patient as further contact tracing is on going . The number of the persons who were in contact with the patient cannot be confirmed yet ," Dr Aruasa said .
The case exposes the level of unpreparedness of health facilities in the country , if the doctors had no PPEs in such a time of Coronavirus while attending to patients , it puts their lives at risk . View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
