Grace Wakhungu collect Ksh.500 million in 2 hrs to escape jail term

Grace Wakhungu may now walk freely from her 69 years jail term over fraud in the National Cereals and Produce Board NCPB.

It could be a new chapter for Wakhungu after she managed to raise 500 million cash pay for fine other than serving 69 years in Jail.

"Kahawa Tungu can now authoritatively report that Grace Wakhungu was able to raise Ksh500 million, which has already been paid", read a statement. Kahawa Tungu is a site by blogger Robert Alai.

She was sentenced for the 69 years after she was found guilty of siphoning 300 million in the NCPB scandal.

Wakhungu was sentenced along side Sirisia MP John Waluke on Thursday 25 June, who will serve 67 years in or pay a fine worth millions.

Both Wakhungu and Waluke's lawyers were set to appeal to a higher court after 14 days of the court verdict.

She was accused of taking advantage of the Kenyans when the country was facing famine and uttering documents.

The convicts faced five counts relating to uttering a false document, perjury and fraudulent acquisition of public property.

The two have been sentenced to be a example to public fraudster and also to help in curbing corruption in the country.

i wish the constitution should have said that any person holding a public office and found guilty of corruption should be jailed for 45 years imprisonment without fine. and if you appeal also you be fined 1billion and jail term aquitted.
