Last Wednesday, former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiujuri launched TSP during a brief presser held in Nairobi. He said the party will provide a platform for likeminded individuals to express themselves perhaps taking a swipe at President Kenyatta following the recent purge on William Ruto’s allies in government.
The birth of the party saw a section of political class link it to William Ruto. Before his sacking, Kiunjuri had publicly declared his support for Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, a move that is said to have cost him his job as the CS. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
Kiunjuri had been backed as a possible Ruto Running Mate during the 2022 elections and Savula has now claimed that the party belongs to the former Eldoret North MP who efforts to register the Jubilee Asili party hit the wall over copright issues.
“I can tell you that the party belongs to Ruto. We have intelligence that Kiunjuri will be his running mate come 2022,” Savula Told the Standard.
He further stated that the former CS lost his position for championing Ruto’s political cause instead of focusing on his roles as cabinet secretary in government. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
“It is on the same basis that Uhuru fired him because he has all along been championing the political interests of Ruto at the expense of his mandate as a CS.”
