Wakule and his counterpart Grace Sarapay Wakhugu are alleged to have pocketed Ksh313 million without supplying to NCPB 40,000 metric tonnes of maize that they were supposed to. Grace is also facing the same sentence as MP Wakule.
Wakhugu and Wakule were supposed to supply the maize through a company where both are shareholders at, Erad Supplies & General Contracts Limited (Erad).
Erad Suplies & General Contracts Limited Company cancelled the tender, after the director by then, the late Jacob Juma, claimed that it had insufficient funds to supply maize.
The company proceeded to court and sued NCPB to press charges of why the tender was cancelled. The case thus unveiled Wakule and Grace having squandered the money without delivering even a single grain of maize.
Prolific lawyers like Cliff Ombeta have then moved to the public and begged the court to have mercy on MP Wakule as it is his first scandal. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
