Covid 19: 40 People Arrested For Not Wearing Face Mask
The Ghana Police Service has arrested 40 people in Accra, the capital of the nation, for failing to obey the now mandatory rule of wearing nose masks, as ordered by the President. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
The Operations Team of Railway Police Command in Accra, had arrested the defaulters, following an operation carried out by the group in search of disobedient citizens.
The police in Accra formed an operation group known as "Operation Wear Your Mask", and walked into the township of Kantamanto to check out the people wearing masks, and arrest those without the life saving material.
DSP Effia Tenge, is the public relations officer for the Greater Accra Regional Police Command. She confirmed to the media that the 40 people had been granted bail, and were to report today, 24th June 2020, to meet the legal agreements.
The Ghana Police have now stressed that, it has been signed by the President, that any body, being a citizen or foreigner, should have at least one mask, to ensure the spread of Covid 19 is shortened.
However, failure to wear it can attract punishment of 4 to 10 years in prison, or fine of GH¢12,000 to GH¢60,000. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
