A viral video from the Upper East region on social media has revealed how people scrambling for the Ghana Card being issued by the National Identification Authority (NIA).

In the said video, dozens of people including male and female, young and old, all forcing their way to take a position in a queue to access the card.

This has brought to concern many issues that were raised by some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and other individuals prior to the registration and issuing of the cards in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The protocols that have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus was not adhered to.

Out of the many people found in the video, only a few were in face masks with social distancing, not given a bit of chance to operate.

The question many are asking is, of this is what is going to happen at the registration centres, of what sense would the identification exercise, be to the fight against the virus?
