According the NDC, they have win relief at the Supreme Court so It means that, the old voters ID will be part of the breeder documents for the compilation of a new voters register.

They finally says that, it therefore means is that, the EC is going to reproduce the same old voters register hence it is a total waste of time, energy and resources plus needlessly exposing Ghanaian electorates to covid-19.

ELECTORAL COMMISSION

Also, according to the electoral commission (EC), they believe they have been given the go ahead to compile the new voter's register they have been craving for.

According to them, the Supreme requested them to add the old Voter's ID as an identity document during the compilation process, which means, they still have to compile a new voter's register.

Meanwhile before that, the Bono Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo threw a challenge that, he should be castrated if the Jean Mensa could lead the Electoral Commission of Ghana to compile a completely new biometric voters’ register.

He made such statements on Dinpa FM which is based in Sunyani.

He said;

“I’m throwing a challenge to you and your producer, mark my words the completely new register will never happen. If it does, have me on record, you should all look for me, catch me and castrate me,”

REASONS FOR FIGHTING FOR OLD VOTER'S ID TO BE ADDED

In the CI 126, the only means of identification making one eligible for the registration is a Ghanaian passport and an NIA card, whiles the old voters’ ID according to the EC will not be accepted. This has been argued by many as a recipe for disenfranchising many Ghanaians who may not possess such documents.

CONCLUSION

Today, the Supreme Court has ordered the EC to commence registration of the New Voter's ID but should include the old voter's ID as a legal identity for the compilation.
