Covid 19 Ghana: 17 Nurses Quarantined After Patient Dies
View pictures in App save up to 80% data. A total of 17 frontline workers have been put into mandatory quarantine after a Covid patient died in Atibie Hospital in Kwahu South at the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The deceased woman hailed from Nkawkaw, but went to the Atibie Hospital for healthcare. This was because almost all the hospitals in Nkawkaw were full of patients of the Coronavirus, thus, she had to go quickly to Kwahu South for treatment since she didn't even know it was Coronavirus.
She started coughing and having flu symptoms, alerting the health workers to take her blood sample to ensure it wasn't Coronavirus, which could have affected anyone by then. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. They took her blood sample, but she unfortunately died before the results was brought. She tested positive for the virus.
The health committee of the hospital did not hesitate to also put the nurses into mandatory quarantine to avoid the spread of Covid 19. Their samples have been taken and are awaiting results.
The female ward at Atibie Hospital has been closed down and is undergoing fumigation. Contact tracing has also been set up to find where the woman lived and people she came into contact with. This is the first case I Kwahu South District.
