The National Democratic Congress (NDC) was against the compilation of the register because they think the EC is not ready to compile the resgister and also the EC is working to helping the National Patriotic Party (NPP) to rig the 2020 presidential election
The NDC’s problem with the compilation was that, the EC is saying that, before you register you have to bring your voter Ghana card which the NDC believe only few people in the country have. Many people have registered for the Ghana and are even yet to get their card .
The NDC was seeking an injunction to stop the EC from compiling a voter register ahead of the 2020 election. On the other hand they also believe the exclusion of the recent voter id for registration is also not acceptable but the EC argued alot of people who registered are under age.
The ruling was decided by a 7-member panel presided by Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah.With the electoral commission being given the go ahead, the process will start soon for the compilation of the new voter register.
