NPP Primaries: Disqualified aspirant to contest as 'independent'
The just ended parliamentary primaries of the New Patrioric Party (NPP) last Saturday was one that was characterized by series of discontent by candidates who were disqualified or lost the contest for what they alleged incumbency abuse and protectionism by the party for certain MPs who are in the good books of the party structures.
One such tense constituency,is the Bekwai constituency in Ashanti region,were the contest was between first deputy speaker in parliament Hon Joe Osei Owusu and his disqualified challenger Mr Kwasi Amofa Agyemang.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the disgruntled candidate who was disqualified has threatened to contest as independent since the party did not give him View pictures in App save up to 80% data. a fair chance to challenge his opponent who was given a leeway to contest unopposed for the bekwai seat.
The run up to Saturday primaries was characterized by violence attacks on supporters of Mr Kwasi Amofa Agyemang who alleged the attacks were masterminded by Hon Joe Osei Owusu just to intimidate him and his supporters.
Agrieved party members who are sympathetic to the disqualified candidate have backed his move to contest the Bekwai constituency as independent parliamentary candidate irrespective of the consequences.
It will be recalled Hon. Joe Osei Owusu defied the party and went independent which he subsequently won to become the member of parliament for Bekwai.
