View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has said, he is not interested in holding on to power using every possible means which may be unconstitutional.
According to him, violent has never been a part of his political career and will never be not even now that he is a president.
President Nana Akuffo Addo was addressing Ghanaians ahead of the commencement of the compilation of the new voter register on Tuesday June 30, 2020 by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
The President urged all eligible Ghanaians who have attained the ages of eighteen and are of sound minds to go out in their numbers to get their names in the register to enable them cast their votes in the December 2020 Elections.
The President told Ghanaians in his live broadcast a while ago that, the 2020 elections cannot be postponed in spite of the country’s vigorous fight against the coronavirus pandemic and that, everything must be done to ensure the elections are held on the constitutionally mandated date.
He assured; all needed protocols will be activated to ensure the safety of every eligible Ghanaian who will go to the various centers for the exercise.
He says the compilation of the new voter register is the only sure way to ensure a fit for purpose register for the 2020 elections.
The President warned that, the security agencies will deal ruthlessly with any unqualified person who may try to outsmart the system.
Commenting on the current deployment of military personnel in the Volta and other parts of the country, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo dispelled rumors suggesting the military personnel are intimating residents in the Volta region to prevent them form participating in the voter registration exercise.
According to him all border towns across the country have military personnel stationed even before the commencement of the compilation of the new register.
Contrary to comments by the former President John Dramani Mahama accusing Nana Addo of using unlawful means to hold on to power, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo indicated, he is not interested in any machinations to hold on to power.
According to him, he abhors violent and cannot be an agent to spark violence in his term as president in Ghana.
