This pandemic has caused havoc in the world and scientists have come together to find a vaccine for this virus.

With the world's worst outbreak outside the United States, Brazil has become a key front in the global race for a vaccine, as vaccine clinical trials are likely to deliver results faster in places where the virus is common.

We are already in developed conversations with Italy's Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute," Unifesp President Soraya Smaili said in an interview on Wednesday. "We need to bring it here, the agreement is already moving forward and we'll be able to do a lot of studies with this vaccine."

The Italian researchers want to perform midstage trials and final Phase III studies pertaining to thousands of subjects in Brazil, Smaili said.

Over the weekend, Unifesp started clinical trials of a vaccine composed by Oxford University with support from AstraZeneca Plc. Brazil's government is approaching approval to eventually produce that vaccine. [nL1N2E00SA]

Smaili said the trial of the Oxford vaccine will involve 2,000 people in Sao Paulo, and the first results may be ready within six months.

Let us all comply with the protocols and also we should stay home if we have nothing to do outside because the virus is real.
