The President of the republic of Ghana H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has addressed the nation ahead of the Compilation of the new voters register come 30th June 2020 accross the nation.
Addressing Ghanaians , the President sought to allay the fears of Ghanaians on alleged sinister motives by his government to subvert the will of the people. The President emphatically admonished Ghanaians who are 18 years and of sound mind to go out observing the strict safety protocols and register for the new ID card which will give them the right to vote in the next elections.
"The 7th December general elections should be a Ghanaian election not a West African election". The President said. He was speaking at the back of claims by by the opposition National Democratic Congress' allegations of the government to disenfranchise the people of the Volta Region.
It could be recalled that there has been a long-standing opinion of how West African Nationals especially from Togo has had the opportunity to register and vote in the previous elections for his opponents.
And thus confirming claims by the ruling Party's Member of Parliament Hon. K. T Hammond MP for Adansi Asokwa in the Ashanti region that the military is in the Volta region to prevent West African Nationals especially those in Togo from infiltrating the voter register.
The President further admonished Ghanaians to use the Ghana Card and Passport to register but in the absence of these documents two guarantors already registered can vouch for a person.
