There is confusing as to who the Supreme Court ruling went in its favour. The NDC’s general secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah popularly known as general mosquito expressed joy about the outcome of the ruling going in their favor. However the Attorney General disagreed with Mr. Asiedu Nketiah and asserted that the ruling meant the old voter register and birth certificate can be used for the upcoming new voter registration which is scheduled to start on June 30, 2020.
The case in question was filed by the National Democratic Congress and Tanyi Banson challenging the mandate of the electoral commission of Ghana to exclude the use of the old voter card and birth certificate as a proof of ones citizenship in the upcoming registration.
